Because of the significance of food in our lives, many ethnic and religious groups incorporate it into special occasions. Funerals, weddings, birthdays, festivals, fairs, political holidays and religious celebrations would all loose a bit of their sparkle without the pleasure of food. Various foods are given symbolic and even transformative connotations. This is a universal truth in most cultures. A very popular food with cultural significance is chicken soup.
